Is an Attorney conducting your closing? NC Law prohibits any non-attorney Title Company, Escrow Company and Signing Service (Notary) from issuing a title opinion or providing any legal advice during a real estate closing.  Many of these entities in our region are under "Cease-and-desist" order from the NC State Bar. Additionally, their Real Estate Trust Accounts are not monitored or audited by any governing authority.  All NC Attorneys are required to maintain a separate IOLTA Trust Account to hold client Real Estate Funds and these accounts are audited and insured by the NC Bar against fraud or misappropriations.
